As a pioneer in the development of dialysis products and therapies, Baxter is passionate about educating the community about the importance of kidneys to our overall health.

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a condition where your kidneys gradually lose function over time, resulting in persistent, irreversible damage to your kidneys. In turn, this makes the kidneys less effective at filtering waste products from the blood and leaving room for toxic substances to accumulate in the body. While severity of CKD varies, the condition is not curable and requires lifelong care1.

“World Kidney Day raises awareness about a disease that impacts so many lives, but is often unrecognized because it doesn’t have many symptoms until the damage has been done,” said Maggie Gellens, Medical Director, North America, at Baxter. “It is important that you understand your risk factors and take actions to protect your kidneys. Often kidney disease can be prevented by embracing a healthy lifestyle.”
